Cabinet Refacing and Lighting in Urbandale, Iowa

Affordable Kitchen Remodeling and Cabinet Refacing

There are 3 ways you can make updates to your kitchen cabinets and drawers, but if you’re working with a budget, refacing will be both cost-effective and still give an updated look of a new kitchen. With this type of remodel, you’re still able to change the color or finish of the cabinets along with style and wood type. And if you have space, we can look at making your cabinets taller and even change the type from an open cavity to a drawer stack if you’d like.

Why Cabinet Refacing?

Unless your kitchen doesn’t have “good bones” (aka structural issues) or you simply don’t like the layout and footprint they take up, cabinet refacing is a great option when remodeling your kitchen. For starters, there’s less time involved than a remodel - if you’re refacing, it takes about a week; if you have any modifications, add about 4 days. The cost is more budget-friendly as well. Cabinet refacing cost can be anywhere from half to two thirds less than a full remodel and can have a similar effect.

Our Cabinet Refacing Process

Refacing your cabinets and drawers is not only a quicker process than a complete remodel, but there’s usually less mess involved as well. It starts with an in-home consultation with our contractor, Nu-Life Cabinets. They provide Amish craftsmanship and are located right here in Central Iowa. Nu-Life will color match any paint chip or stain as needed and make sure it will compliment backsplash and counters. For the actual refacing process, the interiors of the cabinets and drawers stay the same with only the exposed surfaces getting the update. We use a baked enamel instead of thermal foil wrap or laminate to help with sustainability. The contractors do their best to make as little mess as possible, being conscious of the rest of the home. When Nu-Life completes the project, they make sure to leave no mess behind! With proper care of just soap and water, your refaced cabinets and drawers can last a long time.

Updating Kitchen Cabinets while Refacing

If you’re looking to change up the functionality of your kitchen, we can help with that, too. Accessories we’ve added for clients have included:

  • Roll-out trash and recycling bins from below a counter

  • Creating taller cabinets where the ceiling height allows

  • Drawer stacks inside of a cabinet, including slideouts

  • Custom items: we’ve built a movable stand for a Kitchen Aid mixer that went inside of an island

If you have an idea, we want to see what we can do to make it happen!
